You can absolutely have a BLAST with all the things to do Seattle WA has to offer but if you really want to have some serious fun and only spend just a few dollars in your short day trip fee then you simply can't beat this ultra cool trip to the Islands.
Just head on down to the ferry terminal you can drive there or take a bus right to it. You can buy a ticket to just one Island and back or... You can buy a ticket to many Islands, I don't remember the name of the ticket but it's pretty close to the all day excursion ticket or something similar. When I was there last you could also buy a multi day all inclusive (for the Ferry rides) ticket as well. This way you can get off on any and as many Islands as you care too for one really low price.
On this trip you can take your car for an added fee of course or you can go on foot. Most all of the Ferry terminals on all the Islands let you off right at the main town right on the water, it's very cool. Be sure to bring your camera as you will need it with all of the amazing sights to see along the way as well as on the Islands. Remember, you will be able to go out on deck the entire way and sight see on the ship in between Island hoping. You should go, it's a blast!!
